Baa Atoll is made up of two natural atolls, the main portion of this administrative atoll formed of the medium-sized atoll just south of Raa and the other, the smaller Goidhoo Atoll much further to the south with just the three islands of Goidhoo, Fulhadhoo and Fehendhoo. It was here that the French Explorer Francois Pyrard was marooned for five years, when his ship Corbin went aground on the reef in 1602.
